James Lee Witte

December 27, 1965 — February 23, 2018

James Lee Witte, 52, of Gibsonburg passed unexpectedly at his home with his wife, Jodi, by his side on Friday, February 23, 2018.

Jim was born on December 27, 1965 in Oregon to David Lee and Gloria Jean (Boots) Witte. As a 1984 graduate of Gibsonburg High School, Jim obtained his Welders’ Certificate from Terra Tech and for the last 34 years has been working as a welder/fabricator at Quality Steel in Fremont.

Jim was well known for his involvement with the community and having a positive impact on many young people by coaching his sons’ baseball teams and as a 4-H advisor.  He was an avid pool player and attending Sprint Car races only when they went “topless”.  He loved his family, being Pop-Pop to his grandchildren, Quay Alice, Cooper Lee and Grayson Joshua; enjoying the times hunting and fishing with his sons, Justin and A.J., and others; and grilling out whenever he had a chance.  Most of all, Jim will be remembered for the Love he had for his wife, Jodi.  They were married for 34 years and were inseparable.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jodi Lynn (Huether) Witte; sons Justin (Anna) Witte of Gibsonburg and A.J. (Jessica) Witte of Perrysburg; mother, Gloria Witte of Helena; 3 grandbabies; brothers, Scott Witte of Fremont, Steve Witte of Mt. Cory, OH, and David (Kristy) of Gibsonburg; mother and father-in-law, Joe (Lina) Huether of Gibsonburg; sister-in-law, Kelly (Matt) Fudge of Gibsonburg; 10 nieces and nephews; and 2 great nieces

He is preceded in death by his father, David Lee Witte.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2-8 p.m. and on Saturday, March 3, 9-11 a.m, at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg; where Funeral Services will begin 11 a.m. Greg Miller will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to Jim’s grandchildren care of Jodi Witte.
